Vanishing wetlands put $39 trillion in global benefits on the line

Nairobi, Kenya, 15 July 2025 – Launched today, the new Global Wetland Outlook 2025: Valuing, conserving, restoring and financing wetlands from the Convention on Wetlands 2025, warns that without urgent action, one fifth of the world’s remaining wetlands could vanish by 2050—an ecological loss with massive social and economic consequences.

Twentieth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN-20)

The Global Wetland Outlook 2025: Valuing, conserving, restoring and financing wetlands was launched at a press event at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) on 15 July during the Twentieth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN-20).
